What are the reasons for the failure of the conveyor chain gear?

2022-02-10 14:54:40

Conveyor chain is a widely used flexible conveyor accessory, which is mainly used for high-speed, heavy load, low noise and intermediate distance work. Its transmission performance is better than toothed belt transmission, gear transmission and chain transmission. Therefore, the gear of conveyor chain toothed chain plays a great role, but the gear failure of conveyor chain toothed chain will affect its working efficiency, So we first need to understand what is the fault form of the toothed sprocket of the lower conveyor chain?

1. Tooth surface wear of conveyor chain: for open gear transmission or closed gear transmission with smooth oil, due to the relative sliding between meshing tooth surfaces, some hard abrasive particles enter the friction surface, so as to change the tooth shape and increase the side clearance, resulting in excessive thinning of the gear and tooth fracture. Generally, the wear of tooth surface abrasive particles in operation will be caused only when there are abrasive particles in smooth oil.

2. Fatigue pitting corrosion of conveyor chain: when two meshing two wheel teeth contact, the stress and reaction force between the tooth surfaces will produce contact stress on the two task surfaces. Because the position of the meshing point changes and the gear moves periodically, the contact stress changes in a circular manner according to the pulse. Under the action of this alternating contact stress, small cracks appear on the tooth surface. With the passage of time, this kind of crack expands laterally in the surface layer and forms a ring, resulting in micro area spalling on the tooth surface, thus forming some fatigue shallow pits.

3. Tooth surface gluing of conveyor chain: in high-speed and heavy-duty gear transmission, due to the large friction between tooth surfaces, the temperature transition in the meshing area is too high. Once the smooth condition is not good, the friction between tooth surfaces will increase, making the friction between tooth surfaces more intense, resulting in friction between tooth surfaces. In the relative movement, due to the relative movement of the two tooth surfaces, the hard tooth surface will tear some materials on the soft tooth surface, thus forming grooves.

4. Plastic deformation of the tooth surface of the conveyor chain: under the impact or heavy load, the involute tooth surface is prone to plastic deformation, resulting in tooth deformation.

5. Fracture of transmission chain gear: when running in I process, such as cantilever beam, the periodic stress of pulse at the root exceeds the fatigue level limit of gear material, cracks will appear at the tooth root, and then gradually expand, and fracture will occur when other parts cannot bear the driving force. In operation, the gear is severely impacted by Partial load and uneven material may also lead to bow and teeth.
